1) From the CB2 agenda: 46-48 Gansevoort Street – preservation and rehabilitation of the existing building including the installation of new steel storefront infill and windows, reconstruction of the two historic metal marquees, replacement of the existing rooftop skylight, installation of signage, and excavation under the existing building footprint.  50 Gansevoort Street – demolition of the existing building (‘No Style Covering’ in the LPC HD Report) and construction of a new three-story plus cellar building clad in buff brick with steel-and-glass storefront infill and steel windows on the upper floors.  52-58 Gansevoort Street – preservation and rehabilitation of the existing building including installation of new ground-floor infill, installation of signage and lighting, installation of new wood windows in the second floor, horizontal extension of the second floor at the rear, and excavation under the existing building footprint.  60-68 Gansevoort Street – preservation of the existing building and marquee, including the installation of new metal-and-glass storefront infill, signage, lighting,reconstruction of the demolished upper three stories of the historic building construction of a one-story set back addition with rooftop mechanicals, and excavation under the existing building footprint.  70-74 Gansevoort Street – demolition of the existing one-story building (‘No Style’ in LPC HD Report) and construction of a new six-story plus cellar building clad in mottled gray brick with a two-story penthouse clad in wood and glass, installation of metal-and-glass storefront infill, and steel-wood-and-glass marquees.

  • 11/11/2015: LPC Hearing on 11/10/2015- review of application will continue at upcoming public meeting, date TBD
  • 02/01/2016: Public Meeting posted 2/09/2016
  • 02/09/2016:  LPC took no action.  Applicant asked to come back to a future public meeting.  The LPC had the following feedback: 50 Gansevoort, applicant asked to rethink height; 52-58 Gansevoort, no changes needed; 60-68 Gansevoort, applicant asked to look at historic heights of tenements, eliminate the penthouse and respond to the concern of one Commissioner that the existing two story building should be expressed in the proposed changes by setting back the addition; 70-74 Gansevoort, reduce height and scale, review ceiling heights, and eliminate penthouse, and canopies and the overall architecture needs to be simplified to reflect the architecture of the district.
  • 05/27/2016: Revised application posted
  • 06/07/2016: Application was approved with eight commissioners voting in favor, two (Goldblum and Devonshire) voting to deny.  Only Commissioner Goldblum felt that the height of No. 60-68 needed to be reduced to 55′ per the historic documentation.
